The weekend of June 7th, 2019 found families supporting each other at the FFA Leadership Training Center in Haines City, Florida attending our Kids with Cancer Family Retreat, sponsored by Aetna. Hearts were mended and strength was gained as attendees participated in therapeutic activities throughout the weekend. Children’s laughter filled the air as dedicated Aetna volunteers and Family Pals hooked worms on fishing poles at the dock, helped tie-dye t-shirts in the pavilion, and roasted marshmallows for s’mores by the campfire. Families gained insight and knowledge learning about the plight of others, leading to deep connections and family bonds that will last a lifetime. The sheer determination and courage in the eyes of the children were undeniable. They are all warriors, cancer warriors.
