April sure has been a busy month!

Community Champions

On April 6, we hosted our 6th annual Community Champions Awards to honor outstanding leaders in our community!

The event was held at the NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale. The evening featured a cocktail reception, delicious hor d'oeuvres, and an exciting awards ceremony to honor the champions. Nathalie Rodriguez, on air radio personality from 93.9, was the evening's emcee. The esteemed honorees selected for this year were:

Bob Birdsong - OK Generators

Heather Geronemus - Ultimate Software

Lois Marino - BBX Capital

Jean McIntyre - Iberia Bank

Stephen Moss - Holland & Knight

Gregg Wallick - Best Roofing

Sponsors for the event included presenting sponsor Ultimate Software, in addition to Iberia Bank, BBX Capital, Holland & Knight, Best Roofing, OK Generators, Bluegreen Vacations, Wells Fargo, Stephen & Rhonda Moss, Keiser University, Aetna, Corporate Caterers, Reimer Insurance and Essella, Inc.

This past weekend, Deliver the Dream hosted our 6th annual Fishing for the Dream Fishing Tournament, presented by Stiles and Citrix to raise funds for our family retreat program. Additionally, we partnered with RJ Boyle, a staple in the fishing community, to unite Fishing for the Dream with his Sunburned Swordfish 8 Tournament.

Taking place at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club, the two tournaments kicked off on Friday night with a Captain's cocktail party. The evening included Tito's Vodka cocktails and an amazing silent auction, with vacation getaways, fishing excursions, and plenty of fishing gear.

Both tournaments began at 7AM on Saturday morning.

Fishing for the Dream sponsors included presenting sponsors Stiles and Citrix, and additional sponsors: Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman Association, Bluegreen Vacations, Gridiron Insurance, Southeast Landscape Management, Reel Nole Fishing Team, The Chappell Group Inc., Lisa and Blaine Vaszily and Tito's Vodka.

The planning committee works year around to put this event together. Members include Rick Moore, Ken Stiles, RJ Boyle, Gene and Diane Stoller, Blaine and Lisa Vaszily, Maurice Jemison, and Clarke Harlow.

Coming up...

This weekend (April 22nd-24th), we are having our 147th retreat for families who have a child with Down Syndrome! We are so excited to meet these families and we can't wait to see how the families connect with each other.
